BOARD GAME

Join in the expedition to
discover the hidden secrets
of the fabled island that
may exist beyond the shores
of our periodic table

Atomic Board Game

Join the search for undiscovered monster atoms, that may exist beyond our periodic table. The legend of the island of stability has motivated scientific explorers for over 90 years to try and be the first to reach its shores.

This island is surrounded by wild and unstable seas and all their attempts have lead to their giant sea monsters escaping back into the turbulent ocean. See if you can be the first to conquer the Island of Stability!

Coming soon at Kickstarter is the board game that captures the real-word exploration of hunting out new and exotic atoms that are monster sized but remain stable. The board game provides 1-5 players a scenes of adventure and discovery as they compete to build the biggest 'Atomster' but also the best looking may help towards a winning score. Players need to navigate the sea of instability and collect nucleons without them going into melt down. Players also need to collect their Atomster tiles through good luck and good strategy, with a bit of trading thrown in to keep everyone busy.

While the game may be a battle between players, there is the game extension that allows players to take the game up a notch to the Nuclear level. Players can build real atoms and aim for the most stable balance between neutrons and protons based on the table of stability. If you they are good enough they may build a stable atom on the island of stability.

ABOUT the PROJECT

The Stability Island project began as a science experiment and now morphed into a board game
as well. It involved the study of atoms, how they work and the development of a new method for
calculating an atom's stability, a problem that modern science has been grappling with for the
last 90 years. This breakthrough allows us to explore potential new atoms beyond the periodic
table. It's been an incredible journey, with scientists from around the world building larger and
more unusual atoms—though most remain unstable, existing only for fractions of a second.

Inspired Exploration

This game draws inspiration from the real scientific quest for the fabled Island of Stability, where
massive atoms might exist and remain stable. The process involves colliding different atoms in
hopes of creating something amazing and stable enough to benefit mankind. "Atomsters" (Atom
monsters) takes us back to the golden age of discovery, reminiscent of legendary sea monsters
rising from stormy seas. The games goal is to collect Atomster tokens and build the biggest
monster without it going into atomic meltdown.

Kickstarter

Proceeds from game sales will help fund a scientific project to explore the atomic landscape
beyond the periodic table, searching for the real Island of Stability—or, is it just a myth? This
project aims to map existing atoms and use the data to explore uncharted regions.
We're launching on Kickstarter to raise funds, generate awareness, and most importantly, let
people have fun as they dive into the world of nuclear physics and support our mission!

Aim of The Game

Explore the uncharted world of Stability Island in this all-new board game. Your goal is to collect
atoms and build the biggest Atomster (Monster Atom). The challenge lies in keeping your atoms
stable while accumulating those with the largest mass value. The game ends when you run out
of nucleons or when one player fills their stability table. Players vote on their favorite Atomster
by donating an Atomster or Nucleon token to the best creation. In Atomster Mode, points are
totaled by multiplying the number of Atomster tokens by the total number of stable nucleons,
with the highest score winning.

  • ● 1-5 players, ages 14+
  • ● 3 Game Modes:
  • ○ Atomster Mode (fun)
  • ○ Atomic Mode (challenge)
  • ○ Nuclear Mode (advanced)

ABOUT

My name is Mike Hodges, and I've been a graphic designer for many years. Alongside my
partner, Catherine, I've worked on various exciting projects, from building a Grand Design home to developing new products and software for our businesses. One of my personal passions is
science, particularly understanding how gravity works, which led me to develop the Liquid
Gravity Theory. This interest has now brought me to Stability Island, the home of atoms where
gravity is born. The game is an extension of my real-world work in mapping the unexplored
regions beyond the periodic table. It’s designed to be both fun and mildly educational, and
hopefully, it will also help fund further research into my pet science project

Time Frame

The game has been in development since early 2024 following the (SIMS)Stability Island Mapping Software project got underway in 2023. The Stability Island Quest has been going on for over 90 years when scientist realized they could manufacture new atoms by combining smaller ones together and adding new elements to the periodic table. The time frame for the Stability Island game is broken down into two parts starting with the 'Atomsters' and 'Go Atomic' version that allows players to explore and build atom monsters or monster atoms. The time frame for this 6 months. The game extension wants to incorporate the addition of the Stability Island mapping software that will identify potential stable atoms beyond the periodic table. Naming rights will be available to those supporting the project and these new names will be incorporated into a second stage of the Stability island game called the 'Go Nuclear' extension. This will be available in Mid 2025
